Book-Length Manuscripts Bordalice Publishing is interested in acquiring and producing a limited number of high quality books in the fields of sports reform and sports parenting. Prospective authors should carefully consider the type of books that we publish before submitting a manuscript. A BPI book centers around at least one of the following themes: • The reform of preprofessional sports as it relates to the major problem areas of early specialization and professionalization, academic corruption and hypocrisy, commercialism, performance enhancing drugs, athlete misbehavior and violence, burnout, over-training and sports injuries, media sports reporting, unequal sports opportunities, decreased health and fitness. • The parenting of athletes during their development. Books submissions will be considered on the basis of their overall fit with the mission statement of Bordalice Publishing, the content of the submission, author credentials, and the overall marketability of the book. Please include the following when submitting a proposal: 1. Author information including a biography, occupation, and previous experience. 2. Marketing information that will help us to evaluate your target audience. 3. A sample of your proposal which should include the following:
4. The sample materials should be submitted on standard 8.5 X 11 white typing paper with 12 point type. Submissions should be double-spaced, single-sided throughout. 5. A self-addressed, stamped envelope (SASE) that is large enough to contain your manuscript should be included with your proposal. Materials will not be returned if a SASE is not submitted. Submit copies of your materials and not originals. Include a cover letter, your name, return address, and daytime phone numbers with your submission. Book proposals will be considered in the order in which they are received. However, you should allow for a minimum of four to six weeks for a review and a response. Prospective authors will be contacted by mail. Please do not call or email us regarding the status of your proposal as it only delays the review process. |
